From Our Castle to Yours

{ A Conversation with Keely Fell, Owner of Pretty Please at Grand Boulevard }

What is Pretty Please?

Pretty Please is an upscale children's boutique and design center located at Grand Boulevard. I opened my store five years ago, and I absolutely love my work. It is so much fun designing children's rooms and selling adorable clothing, accessories, decor and toys.

What is your inspiration?

My kids – Paxton, 8, and Landry, 5 – are my true inspiration. I have also been inspired by companies such as Bass Pro Shops, Anthropologie and Disney World to create memorable, one-of-a-kind experiences. This is what I try to accomplish at Pretty Please. I love color, unique artwork and signature pieces, which many times trigger an entire room design.

Why did you choose to focus on children's interior design?

My background is in adult design which I worked daily in for about eight years. Then after my first child, I took a break from that industry and became a stay-at-home mom for three years. When I was pregnant with my second child, I truly missed the design industry and found a niche in children's design. I wanted to bring my experience with working with adult furniture to the children's world.

What is your dream for Pretty Please?

I do a room makeover give-away each year for a child in need, and I would love to take this concept and host a design television program that gives deserving children, who have overcome some sort of illness or setback, fantasy room make overs.

What makes Pretty Please unique?

I travel to so many markets across the country and walk miles in and out of show-rooms searching for perfect accessories, lighting, accent pieces and clothing lines. I touch, feel and hand-pick every item that you see in the store. I definitely have a talent in finding treasures! I want a child's room to sing with personality, and it is especially fun to dress that special personality.

We offer bedding from Cottage Dreams, Maddie Boo, Dwell and Caden lane; gliders from Little Castle; and artwork from Oopsy Daisy, Mary Jack Studios and many other unique artists.

What is your business philosophy?

My philosophy is to give customers an experience. I want you to feel like you just entered a captivating, enchanting world when you step through my doors. We have a pirate ship fort for the kids to play in so the moms can shop, and I custom designed my sales counter which is a huge castle. It is memorable and fun for both mom and the kids.
